In 1986, Guadalupe was a student at Clinton Community College. She was the mother of three daughters and had a challenge with finding reliable child care.

So, Guadalupe decided to establish a child care center at Clinton Community College. She began interviewing the directors of the Child Care Center at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and the Child Care Center at SUNY Plattsburgh. in Plattsburgh, New York. She organized a Steering Committee at Clinton Community College and encouraged other mothers who were students at Clinton Community College to get involved in this project. One of the mothers commented, "You can not establish a child care center because you do not have the skills for that.". Also, the president of the college stated, "this can't be done because it had already been tried in 1970"

In May 1990, a few days before Guadalupe graduated from Clinton Community College, the ceremony was held on the campus dedicating the opening of the Child Care Center. And among the crowd was Guadalupe with her family.

In 2017, the Child Care at Clinton Community College closed its child care doors.
